School board to approve levy, back roundabout

NEW ULM — The District 88 School Board is scheduled to approve its 2019 property tax levy at its meeting today at 6 p.m. in the district boardroom in the Middle School, 414 S. Payne St.

The levy being considered is $8,109,970.22, a deduction of -.64 percent ($52,513.01) from the 2018 levy.

In other business, the board will consider a resolution to act as a supporting agency for the Fourth South and Broadway project, and for the North Highland and Oak Street roundabout projects. The school district will work with the City of New Ulm on research, design and construction on the projects.

The roundabout on Oak Street will set up a safer intersection at the entrance to New Ulm High School, while the Fourth South and Broadway project will set up a safe crossing lane across Broadway to encourage more students to walk to school.
