Construction open house for Highway 14/15 in New Ulm Feb. 8

Video highlights detour information (and Hermann the German)

MANKATO – The Minnesota Department of Transportation wants to get New Ulm area residents and businesses ready for construction on the New Ulm Gateway (Highway 14/15) project detour planned for early April. An open house has been set for Thursday, February 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the New Ulm Community Center and a video featuring the project and detour is being rolled out to inform the motoring public.

Individuals attending the open house will be able to view the final design, learn about the construction schedule and resulting detours, and visit with MnDOT and staff from Mathiowetz Construction.

The video can be viewed at www.mndot.gov/newulm . Viewers will see the project purpose, work planned, and the detour for 2018.

Preliminary winter work continues on the Highway 14/15 New Ulm Gateway Project including clearing trees and brush and preparatory work for the bridge over the Minnesota River in New Ulm, as weather allows.

This spring Highway 14/15 from Broadway to Nicollet County Road 21, including the bridge over Front Street, will be under construction. In 2019, MnDOT will replace the Minnesota River Bridge and build a new interchange at the intersection of Highway 14/15/CR21. Both 2018 and 2019 work will require a detour. When the project is complete two deficient bridges will be replaced, intersection safety and driving pavements will be improved and aesthetics installed to create a new Gateway into New Ulm.

Project information and detour maps are available at www.mndot.gov/newulm .
