Colombia’s ex-FARC rebels fights for survival
BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) — Former FARC rebels now fight to survive as a political party as Colombia votes in a high-stakes congressional election. On Sunday, their Comunes party runs without the 10 guaranteed seats it received under the 2016 peace deal. Analysts say many voters still reject the group because of its violent past. Comunes needs enough votes to keep its legal party status and public funding. The party has performed poorly in recent elections, so it has teamed up with Fuerza Ciudadana, downplaying its old symbols on campaign material.
