Court Proceedings

Brown County District Court

• A felony charge of third-degree burglary and two counts of felony theft were filed this week against Daniel J. Zimmermann, 905 Valley St. N. Nov. 9, 2021. A first appearance was set for 8:30 a.m. Dec. 7, 2021.

According to court documents, on May 19, 2021 Brown County authorities reviewed cell phone records from March 7-8, 2021 regarding thefts and a burglary committed by Cody Stark and Travis Stanton. The data linked Zimmermann.

On March 8, 2021, deputies were sent to a vacant residence on CR 29, Milford Township for a reported theft. An individual told deputies he got a phone call from a neighbor about someone wandering around the farm site at about 9:30 p.m. the prior night. The man sent his son to the farm to check it out and was told it appeared ransacked and damaged, and property was missing including a Honda dirt bike, catalytic converters, fuses and other tools and property, valued at more than $1,000.

Stanton and Stark were charged with third-degree burglary, motor vehicle theft and theft as a result of the crimes.

Cell phone records showed Stanton called Zimmermann several times on March 7-8, 2021 and Stark phoned Zimmermann on March 7, 2021.

Brown County Chief Deputy Jeremy Reed met Zimmermann at his residence on May 20, 2021 and told him his cell phone data put him at the burglary residence with Stanton and Stark.

Zimmermann admitted he drove Stanton to the burglary site in Milford Township. Zimmerman said he went back to Stanton’s residence, then walked home.

Reed told Zimmermann many of the stolen items were in Stanton’s garage. Zimmerman said he knew nothing about the theft.

Zimmerman and Stanton exchanged multiple text messages while Zimmermann was in the Brown County Jail, with Zimmermann agreeing to help Stanton move his vehicles and help his girlfriend clean.

Starting at $4.50/week.
