Park & Rec Report

Hermann Monument is open on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. until Memorial Weekend, when it will be open daily. Admission is $3 per person. Ages 5 and under free with adult.

Swimming Lesson Openings – We have openings in most classes of Session I, held June 3-13 (Monday through Thursday mornings) as well as session V, June 3-26 (Monday/ Wednesday evenings). Please register online or at the Rec Center.

Hermann Swim Club focuses on training swimmers and providing opportunity to improve strokes, build muscle, speed, strength and improve endurance. Our instructors provide a safe and fun environment. Each session consists of six meeting dates; the first 5 will focus on developing techniques and skills and have an in-house intra-squad swim meet during the final session date. Participants must have passed Level 4 Swim Lessons and be at least 8 years old to join. The first session is June 11-27. Register online or at the Rec Center.

T Ball Changes: Minor T-Ball for 4-5 year-olds will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:15-5 p.m. at Harman Park. Major T-Ball for 5-6 year-olds will be held Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:15-6 p.m. This was printed wrong in the PR brochure and we apologize for the confusion.

Summer Camp Programs offered through Park and Rec provide a fun and safe environment for kids to socialize, be creative, imaginative and active. Our outgoing, fun counselors will create a positive, exciting atmosphere in which to lead children through a variety of games, projects, arts, crafts and challenges. Activities engage children physically, mentally and socially so that they gain confidence in themselves through the fun together! Camps are held weekly; sign up for one or many! Tot Swim is held the first and third Fridays of the month. The June times are June 7 and 21 from 9:30-11 a.m. This is an opportunity to Swim and play with your tot in the shallow part of the pool. Toys are provided and tot slide will be open. Whirlpool is closed during this time. Admission is $2.75/tot.

Riverside Environmental Learning Center located in Riverside Park is open Thursdays from 3 to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 2 to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 12 to 3 p.m. or by appointment. Please call Ron at 507-766-5770 to make arrangements for other times.

Open Pickleball at Rec Center Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 1-2:30 p.m. Memberships, Punch cards, cards or Daily Admission apply. Outdoor pickleball courts are open.

German Park Amphitheater is in great need of improvement! Fundraising for this project continues. Any size of donation is accepted and greatly appreciated for the community venue. Checks can be made to the City of New Ulm and mailed to the Park and Rec. Dept., 122 S. Garden Street, New Ulm.
