Afternoon and Evening Programs.

——–

The big Brown county fair will be held this year on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 26, 27, 28 and 29. The dates were selected by the management following the meeting of the county fair officers in St. Paul last week.

Tuesday afternoon representatives of the World Amusement Co., and the Western Vaudeville Co. of Chicago, and the Potts Fireworks Co. of Franklin Park, Ill., were in New Ulm and held a meeting with the directors of the Brown County Agricultural society. This is an annual affair, following the state meeting, and at this meeting the entertainment features of the big fair were booked.

Excellent Program

The program of free acts together with the fireworks program will handicap anything ever before secured for the county fair. It will also surpass any amusement program booked in this part of the state this year. Last year, it will be remembered a big spectacle, “Pioneer Days,” was the feature of the evening entertainment. The directors were of the opinion that it would not be advisable to put on a pageant or spectacle this year, as a big pageant will be one of the attractions of the Fourth of July celebration, sponsored by the Brown County Agricultural society. Two pageants the same season, dated so close together, would be inadvisable.

Added Free Acts-Fireworks

Added Free Acts-Fireworks.Therefore, a heavier program of free acts and a fireworks program about double that of any previous year, were arranged for the three afternoons and evenings of the fair.

The fireworks representative stated the program would be in excess of anything the state fair has ever put on. This being the case it will surpass any pyrotechnical display ever witnessed at a county fair in southern Minnesota.

Big Carnival Co.

In addition to the big program of free acts and the fireworks the fair management has arranged to secure the Royal American Shows to come to New Ulm and place their amusement features on the grounds for the fair dates. This is an excellent amusement concern. Seven rides will be placed on the fair grounds, including a caterpillar, merry-go-round, ferris wheel, merry mixup, whip, new heydey and Missouri mule. In addition to the rides there will be at least eight show fronts. One of these attractions is the “City in the Alps,” which is said to be a wonderful reproduction of a scene in Switzerland. Another is a Penny arcade, with 85 machines.”Shooting the Rapids,” is another amusement, which is new and is said to be a high-class attraction.

Free Acts

Eight free acts have been secured for the afternoons and evenings of the fair dates.

Catherine Sinclair & Co., consisting of one woman and two men, will be seen in a clever springboard and tumbling act. This is a high-class act and will produce more than one thrill for the crowds.

William Brack & Co., consisting of three men and two boys, is another tumbling act. It is said that this is one of the best acts of its kind that amusement concerns furnishing attractions for county fairs have to sell.

The Dashingtons in an animal novelty act is one of the best of its kind. Some dozen dogs and four or five cats are seen in evolutions of various kinds.

Ebenezer, the trick mule, is a major attraction. Ebenezer is accompanied by three men, one white and two colored assistants. This act is a fun-producer of the first rank.

The Skating Macks–a man and woman on roller skates, will produce thrills on their own platform, which they carry with them. This is a high-class act.

Peters & LeBoeff, trapeze artists will put on two acts each afternoon and evening. The first act will be a trapeze act, while the second will be a rube hayrack act.

Thrill of the Fair

Chiff Curran will produce the biggest thrill of the fair. He is a sensational acrobat, and will put on accomplishments on a high slender tapering swinging pole, ninety feet in actual height-it will be one moment between life and eternity.

The fair management has also arranged for a big clown act.
