A representative of John B. Rogers Producing Co., of Fostoria, O., was in New Ulm Tuesday and arranged with the Brown County Agricultural society to furnish a historical pageant for the evenings of the Fourth and Fifth of July, which, with a mammoth fireworks program will be the major attraction of the celebration sponsored by the society at the Fair grounds.
About Hour and Hali
The pageant will require about an hour and a half to complete and there will be some 300 people in the spectacle.
The producing concern furnishes all the costumes complete for the production and a director will come to New Ulm some three weeks prior to the celebration to whip the local talent into shape.
Local Color
The pageant, besides depicting historical data of the nation, will deal in local history. Much of the production will deal with local conditions and events in the early days of this city and Brown county. The representative of the concern will come to this city and after getting the data for the local end of the pageant will write the scenario and go to work at once on the selection of those, who are to take part and rehearsing the spectacle.
Really Big Event
This is really a big event and will require considerable work, but it will be one of the hits of the celebration and will attract thousands from all over this part of the state.
In addition to the pageant the management will arrange for at least two races and a baseball game as amusement features for the afternoon program.
Amusement Company
The fair management has closed with the Capital Amusement Co. to come to New Ulm for the celebration and place three rides and six shows on the fair grounds.
Other amusement features will be worked out by the fair management in the near future.
Biggest in State
It is the aim of the promoters of the celebration to make it the biggest event of its kind held in Minnesota this year. New Ulm is a celebration city and never fails to attract crowds from all over the state, when a celebration is held. The net proceeds of the two-day event will be turned into the fair treasury.
