Friday, September 4, will see the opening of a new business house in New Ulm when the Emporium Department Store opens it doors to the public and invites them to come in and do their trading. The new store is located in the Buenger Building, next to the Hackbarth Shoe Store and the owner of the department store, H. Goldbloom of St. Paul, has secured a five year lease on the building.
Renovated Thruout.
The store has been renovated thruout and presents an entirely new appearance. Display windows have been installed in the front and on the side of the building in which ladies and mens wear will be displayed from time to time. Fixtures have been built in and have been painted in a pearl grey while the walls have been decorated in a cream color. The front of the store will contain a full line of men’s and boy’s clothing and furnishings, then comes a line of ladies and children’s ready-to-wear and dry goods and in the rear of the store will be found a grocery department with a full line of eatables.
Enlarges Shipping District.
Mr. Goldbloom will make New Ulm his future home and has already moved into the Bartl house on South Minnesota street. With the locating of the Emporium Department Store in the Buenger building it means an enlargement of the shopping district in the city and will aid in making New Ulm the “Trading Center of Southern Minnesota”. Elsewhere in this issue will be found a double page advertisement announcing the opening of the new store and announcing its policy and plans.
