As a result of an inspection trip taken by the committees from the American Legion and the Commercial Club, the City Engineer, F. D. Minium is at work drawing up plans and specifications for the Swimming Pool which the American Legion will erect in North German Park. Those who made the trip to Sioux City to inspect a swimming pool put up by the company whose representative has been in this city at intervals explaining their project were: Frank Niemann, J. A. Kennedy, Armin Retzlaff, J. F. Teichrow, and F. D. Minium. The plans will be completed in the course of a week or ten days when bids will be called for. Enroute home the party visited another pool located at Merrill, Iowa.

Plans for Larger Pool

It is believed that a larger pool can be constructed for less money if the Legion arranges for plans and specifications of their own and Mr. Minium is drawing up plans for a pool 75 by 180 feet. A meeting will be arranged with the City Council in the near future to determine just exactly what land will be allotted to the Legion for the pool. When all details have been worked out and the contracts have been let the pool will be built in record time.

Business Men Support Plan

Residents are looking forward to the time when the pool will be ready for use. This has long been one of the urgent needs of the city of New Ulm and with the prospect of a real swimming pool in sight the enthusiasm is high. Business men who attended the banquet as guests of the local Legion Post voted their support to the project and the boys have taken hold of the proposition with a determination to put the work over. As a result the Commercial Club is assisting the Legion Post with the plans.

Pool Ready This Summer

Mr. Niemann, a member of the inspecting party was not favorably impressed with the system of purifying the water in the pools which they visited and being a chlorinating expert, is in a position to present a more efficient plan.

The pool will become a reality, however, and the public will just have to wait until the final arrangements are made and the construction begun. It will be ready for use this summer unless present plans fail.
