Stafford King, state adjutant of the American Legion, will be at New Ulm Monday evening, and deliver an address at a Businessmen’s luncheon, which will be served by the Ben J. Seifert post. The heads of the different business houses of the city will be invited to be present on this occasion, and it goes without saying that they will be pleased to be with the Legion boys and to hear Staff King, who is one of the outstanding characters in the organization in the state, and also an excellent orator.
Work at Swimming Pool
The Legion boys, Sunday, were out in full force, at the P. H. Furth property on the Cottonwood river. Quite a clearing of underbrush was accomplished with a tractor, which was taken to the site by Legionnaire Walsh of Walsh-Lodahl Motor Co. and some heavy work was done during the day, by this machine, assisted by the muscular efforts of the Legionaires. A good start was made in the necessary clearing of the ground. Engineers made estimates on the work required to secure proper depth of water and experts on landscape beautifying gave opinions on improvements.
It is anticipated to complete the work on the swimming pool in about three weeks. Next Sunday the “gang'”will turn out again and “hit the line hard.” The Auxiliary members are planning for a “feed.” Anyone, who desires to assist is welcome.
Plans for the Legion Endowment Fund drive for orphans of veterans and the disabled have been about completed. Explanation of the needs and purposes of the drive will be published later.
