Report-of Director

E. R. Bliefernicht.

——–

At least one new instructor will be added to the present faculty of the Dr. Martin Luther college of this city, by the beginning of the next fall term, according to action taken by the board of directors at its annual meeting, held at the institution, Tuesday. The new teacher will have charge of the training school of the normal department, the students of which practice teaching in the lower grades of the local Lutheran parochial school. Should the needs of the college demand the employment of more new instructors, these will be provided.

The board members expressed gratification at the very favorable annual report of Prof. E. R. Bliefernicht, director of the college, which was read during the meeting. According to this report, the enrollment is the largest in the history of the institution. A total of 173 stu-dents are now receiving instrüction, as against 123 last year. The steady growth in enrollment makes it necessary to provide additional instructors from time to time.

Miss Luella Sitz, sister of Prof. H. Sitz of the local Lutheran parochial school, was retained as matron of the girls’ dormitory at the college.

The board voted to make a number of minor improvements on the college property here during the summer vacation.

The following board members were present at the annual meeting, Tuesday: Rev. G. E. Bergemann, Fond du Lac, Wis., president of the Wisconsin Lutheran Joint synod; Rev. W. Sauer, Watertown, S. D.; Rev. R. Siegler, Watertown, Wis.; Rev. J. Gramm, La Crosse, Wis.; F. H. Retzlaff, F.H.Schweppe, Prof. H. Sitz and Prof. Bliefernicht, New Ulm. E. Zutz, of Norfolk, Neb., the only absent member, was detained by business.
