Knights Templar Service At Congregational Church

Sunday Evening

Beautiful Easter lilies, palms, ferns and the first Spring flowers will be used in the decoration of the various Protestant and Catholic churches in New Ulm and the immediate vicinity Sunday morning, when special services for the day will be held. Services for Holy Week have also been planned and will be carried out as in former years. The different church choruses have been busy preparing special anthems to sing on Easter.

Methodist Church

Rev. C. G. Hohn will conduct special services this (Wednesday) evening and every evening thruout this week. On Friday night a special communion service will be held. Easter Sunday morning at 10:45 the pastor will deliver on address on the subject “Winning Immortality” and at this time the choir will sing special Easter anthems. In the evening members of the congregation will join with the Congregational and Episcopal churches in the observance of the Knights Templar service at 7:45 p.m. at the Congregational church.

Congregational Church

Services on Good Friday at 7:30 o’clock at the Congregational church will be in charge of Rev. C. H. Yettru. During the special services Easter Sunday morning, new members will be welcomed into the Church and Holy Communion will be observed. The mixed choir will render a special song service. At 7:45 that evening the members of the Knights Templar will hold their annual service at the church. Rev. Yettru will deliver an appropriate sermon and there will again be special musical numbers.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church

Holy week services at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church have been announced by Rev. G. Hinnenthal as commencing Maundy Thursday morning with services at 10 o’clock. A German sermon will be delivered by the pastor. On Good Friday morning services will be held at 10 o’clock followed by Holy Communion and at that time a German sermon will be delivered. A special song service will be one of the features of the services Easter Sunday. English services will be conducted at 8:30 and the German services will be held at 10 o’clock. Holy Communion will follow. Easter Monday German services will be held at 10 o’clock

Frieden’s Church

Rev. Emil Sans will have charge of services’ at the Frieden’s church in Essig Good Friday morning at 10 o’clock and in the evening at 7:30 in the church in this city. Easter services will be held in German at the New Ulm church at 10 o’clock after which the pastor will go to Elkton, S. D., to have charge of services in St. Paul’s Frieden church there at 7:30. On Easter Monday, services will be held in the Frieden’s church at Nicollet.

Bethel Church

Special services at the Bethel church Easter Sunday will follow the Sunday School hour. Rev. R. M. Mueller will deliver a German sermon at 11o’clock. In the evening at 7:30 o’clock the young people of the church will have charge of a special program consisting of music and readings which will be given in English.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church

Holy week services will start in St. Mary’s Church tomorrow (Thursday) morning with Mass at 8 o’clock and on Good Friday at the same hour. On Holy Saturday the services will start at 7 o’clock. Good Friday afternoon a devotional service will be held at 3 o’clock, commemorating the death of the Christ. Services this (Wednesday) evening, and Thursday and Friday at 7:30. Easter Sunday Solemn High Mass will be held at 7 o’clock, Children’s mass at 8 and second High Mass at 10:15 with singing by the choir.

St. George Catholic Church

Services of Holy Week at the St.George Catholic Church will start with the service Thursday morning at 9 o’clock. Friday and Saturday services will be held at the same hour. Easter services will be observed with High Mass at 8 o’clock with a German sermon and late Mass at 11 with an English sermon, all services being in charge of Rev. Pozek.

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church

Rev. Howard A. L. Grindon will deliver a special sermon Easter Sunday morning and the choir will sing a special anthem. The following Sunday Holy Communion will be celebrated.

Holy Trinity Catholic Church

Rev. A. J. Rinke announces that the services for Holy Week will start in the Holy Trinity Catholic church Thursday morning at 9 o’clock. At 7:30 the same evening a special song service will be conducted when Rev. Rinke, and Rev. Rhode assisted by a quartet of the big choir will sing “Tennebrae.” Good Friday ceremonies will start at 9 o’clock with the unveiling of the cross, adoration of the same, mass presanctified, stations of the cross, instruction and sermon and the “Tennebrae” song service will be repeated at the service at 7:30 that evening. On Holy Saturday morning the Easter Fire, Paschal candle and baptismal water will be blessed and high mass immediately following.

On Easter Sunday morning the services will be held at the usual hours, 7, 8, 9:15 and 10:30 o’clock.

Essig and Brighton Churches

Rev. P. Gedicke of New Ulm will conduct services in the Zion church at Essig Maundy Thursday at 10 o’clock a.m., followed by the Lord’s Supper. On Good Friday morning at 10 o’clock similar services will be held in the Brighton Zion Church, Rev. Gedicke preaching. The Lord’s Supper will also be observed. Easter Sunday, services will be held in the Essig church at 10:30 o’clock and on Easter Monday morning the services the Brighton Church will start 10 at o’clock.

Courtland Lutheran Church

Rev. H. Strasen will hold services in the Courtland church Maundy Thursday morning at 9:30 and again on Good Friday morning at 10 o’clock. Easter Sunday services will be held at 10 o’clock and on Monday morning again at the same hour. Special music will be sung at all services during the week.
