Correction

In the article “Celebrating a permanent fixture of New Ulm” printed in the Tuesday, Sept. 15 edition of The Journal, the article should state that Don Jirak is the director of the New Ulm Municipal Band, with Michael Koester serving as musical director for Thunder in the Valley, coordinating the cannon fire with the Municipal Band's performance.

Correction

The Saturday, June 6 article “New Ulm Area Foundation awards grant for river sampling program” incorrectly cited the origin of the Minnesota River. The article should read the Minnesota River starts as a tributary of the Mississippi, south of the Twin Cities, flowing southwest to Mankato and then northwest to Big Stone Lake on the Minnesota/South Dakota border.

The Journal’s Friday, June 6 front page story about the classic rock cover band “On Maryland” performing in German Park should read June 11.

The Friday, May 29 article “Big Ideas seeks new, gently-worn shoes” listed the incorrect address for Big Ideas. The correct address is 23 S. Minnesota St. The donation barrel is located outside the alley door.

The Journal’s May 9 Lifestyle page about rock hunter Brea Wear should identify Alex Hastings as the Fitzpatrick Chair of Paleontology at Science Museum of Minnesota.

Correction

The Journal’s March 12 front page story about the Sleepy Eye City Council approving a tobacco license should be corrected to read the license was approved by a 4-1 vote. Councilor Doug Pelzel cast the dissenting vote.
