NEW ULM – Brown County Humane Society has announced it has received a $6,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to support its efforts to raise the quality of life for pets being prepared for adoption into permanent homes.

Brown County Humane Society (BCHS) is a nonprofit organization formed in 1981 whose mission is the protection and welfare of animals through education, sanctuary, adoption and promotion of responsible pet ownership serving the Brown County and surrounding areas. Since 2011, BCHS has helped over 2,700 dogs and cats find homes. BCHS is a 100 percent volunteer run organization with no paid staff.

The Petco Foundation investment will help to continue BCHS’s life-saving efforts through providing necessary medical care to prepare animals for adoption. As one of the few no-kill shelters in the New Ulm region, BCHS often receive in animals requiring extensive and expensive medical care. This grant will allow BCHSto continue and improve upon those life-saving efforts.

“As a non-profit, we struggle to cover our expenses. Because of Petco Foundation’s support, we will be able to continue our efforts and provide the best quality of life possible to the animals in our care while they wait for their forever homes,” said Amy Bloedel, BCHS Executive Director and Board Chair.
