Mathiowetz named Tomahawk Girls Basketball POTY

Sleepy Eye St. Marys’ Morgan Mathiowetz repeated as Tomahawk Division Girls Basketball Player of the Year after winning the award last season.

Mathiowetz is joined by teammate Olivia Schieffert as a unanimous All-Conference Selection, while St. Marys’ Brynne Ibberson was an Honorable Mention. St. Mary’s head coach Bruce Woitas was also chosen as the Coach of the Year as the Knights took home the Conference Championship, the Section 2A title and the Class A Girls Basketball State Championship.

Also on the All-Conference Team were Cedar Mountain’s Aubrey Steffl and Kendra Erickson, both unanimous selections, while teammate Kendra Lueck was an Honorable Mention. Olivia Milbrath was a unanimous selection for Springfield, with Jada Reese joining her on the team and Kendall Krueger as an Honorable Mention, while Sleepy Eye was represented unanimously by Taylor Berkner, with Jace Schauman and Jaelynn Schauman as Honorable Mentions. Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart and Wabasso each had a unanimous selection in Lily Hubin and Kenley Guetter, respectively, with Ava Samyn being an Honorable Mention for Wabasso. New Ulm Cathedral’s Shay Wilfahrt and Lester Prairie’s Anah Lee rounded out the All-Conference team, with Cathedral adding Margo Finstad as an Honorable Mention.
