HANSKA 14, NEW ULM 4 (8 INNINGS) HANKSA — The Hanska Lakers rolled the New Ulm Brewers 14-4 in eight innings in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game on Sunday. Aaron Portner earned the win for Hanska, striking out four and allowing no runs on three hits in three innings. Jaxx fall to Bullfrogs

BIRD ISLAND — The Bird Island Bullfrogs topped the Wabasso Jaxx 8-6 in a Corn Belt League amateur baseball game on Sunday. CJ Theis took the loss for Wabasso, allowing seven runs on 10 hits in 2 2/3 innings. At the plate for Wabasso, Brody Hauger had a hit and two RBIs, whiel Deagen Maurice and Carter Freitag each had a hit and an RBI. Wabasso (0-4) hosts Wilmar on Friday.

Area golfers ready for 2026 state tourney

Five Eagles earn All-Conference Softball honors

The Big South Conference announced its All-Conference Softball Team this past weekend, with five New Ulm Eagles represented. Junior Gracie Baker, sophomore Natalie Fischer and senior Lauren Schmiesing all made Black All-Conference team, while seniors Maddie Olson and Miley Flor both earned Honorable Mention honors. Jackson County Central had the most selections overall with eight after winning the conference. St. Peter had the most selections in the Black Division with six.

Four Eagles earn All-BSC Tennis honors

The Big South Conference released its All-Conference Boys Tennis team for the 2026 season, with four New Ulm players represented. Seniors Charlie Weidman and Dan Brownfield both made the team for the Black Division, while senior Wyatt Feucht and junior Thomas Lehne were both Honorable Mention selections. New Ulm finished second in the Black Division with a 3-1 record.

VFW Silver win Luverne tourney

LUVERNE — The New Ulm VFW Silver won the Luverne Junior Legion Baseball Tournament this past weekend, defeating Sanford 8-0 on Friday, the Midwest Vandals 6-1 on Saturday and the Marshall VFW Orange 4-2 on Sunday. In the win over Sanford, Hudson Lieser was 2 for 3 with two doubles and three RBIs to lead the Silver, while Blake Aufderheide was 1 for 2 with two RBIs. Owen Drill earned the win in five innings, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out five.
