Silver does enough to earn split with USC

NEW ULM — In their doubleheader Saturday against the USC Junior Legion at Mueller Park, the New Ulm VFW Silver totaled three hits in each five-inning game. One produced a close win, while the other ended in a lopsided loss. Silver pitcher Wyatt Hansen held USC to only two hits and a Hansen RBI single in the bottom of the third inning proved to be the difference in a 2-1 win. Buegler leads 66th New Ulm Invitational after first round

NEW ULM — Fresh off of his second high school state golf tournament appearance this past Wednesday, 17-year-old New Ulm Eagles golfer Mason Buegler continued his strong play Saturday at the New Ulm Country Club. With a 2-over-par 73, Buegler ended his first round at the 66th annual New Ulm Invitational as the Championship Flight leader. He was one stroke ahead of eight-time Invitational winner Johnny Larson and two strokes ahead of Paul Andersen. Three Eagles golfers honored by BSC

The Big South Conference released its All-Conference Golf Teams on Thursday, with three New Ulm Eagles being recognized. Juniors Brandt Munson and Colton Anderson earned All-Conference boys golf honors, while senior Lilly Kral was named an All-Conference girls player. St. Peter was the overall boys conference champion, while Marshall won the overall conference girls title.

Sleepy Eye Jr. Legion down St. Clair

STARK — The Sleepy Eye Junior Legion baseball team downed St. Clair 10-1 on Wednesday night in a junior legion baseball game. Adam Braulick earned the win on the mound in six innings of work, allowing three hits and three walks for one earned run while striking out three. Tyler Sellner pitched the seventh and struck out two. Derek Wales led the Sleepy Eye bats, going 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while Jaxon Saenz was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored.

The Tomahawk-Valley Conference released its All-Conference boys and girls golf teams on Thursday.
