Jahnz surges ahead, wins IMCA Hobby feature in Arlington

Courtesy of Arlington Raceway ARLINGTON — Another crash fest occurred in the Jack Pines Resort IMCA Hobby feature at the Arlington Raceway this past Saturday. Ben Davis was able to lead the race at the start, then RJ Esqueda who started next to him took a hard right going into Turn 2 bringing out the yellow flag. On the restart, Davis again brought the field around the track but yet another yellow came out when the 32 of Chad Volk, 75 of Dan Probst and 75H of Patrick Schauer all collided in Turn 1. Gold open season with big win

WASECA — The New Ulm Legion Gold opened their summer season of baseball with an 11-0 shutout of Waseca on Monday. A six-run third inning highlighted the game for the Gold, and a four-run fifth inning helped put things away in five innings due to the 10-run rule. Levi Hopp led the Gold at the plate, going 2 for 2 with a walk, two RBIs and two runs scored, while Kyle Albrecht was 2 for 4 with three RBIs and Hunter Larson was 2 for 4 with a triple, a double and an RBI. New Ulm leads in All-BSC Baseball selections

The Big South Conference released its Baseball All-Conference Team for 2026, with eight total New Ulm players represented, most of any team. On the Black All-Conference team were junior Tanner Backer, sophomore Owen Castleman and seniors Ryan Rathmann and Zach Hubbard. Juniors Mitchell Hopp and Levi Hopp and seniors Candon Briggs and Dirk Haynes were also Honorable Mentions. Marshall had six players make the All-Conference team, but had no Honorable Mentions.

Class A All-State Baseball Team announced

The Minnesota State High School Baseball Coaches Association released its Class A All-State and All-Section selections, with several area athletes represented. Class A State Champion Madelia had two players make the All-State team in seniors Tate Becker and Tony Zaleski, as did Sleepy Eye with senior Kayden Klein and junior Carson Uecker.
