Firchau named Valley Boys Basketball POTY
Madelia sophomore Kaydon Firchau was officially announced as the Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Valley Division Boys Basketball Player of the Year on Tuesday.
Firchau averaged 30.7 points per game this season as the Blackhawks tied with Nicollet for the best record in the Valley. Joining Firchau on the team were his Madelia teammates Dalton Tatro and Tate Becker, while Bryce Borkenhagen was an Honorable Mention.
Mankato Loyola had Covin Winter and Christian Barker named to the team, while T.J. O’Malley was an Honorable Mention. Nicollet saw Carson Kettner and Henry Kennedy make the team, with Keegan Hulke earning an Honorable Mention.
Rounding out the team, Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther’s Eli Jensen made the team, while Brody Grathwohl was Honorable Mention. Cleveland’s Carson Lyons made the team, while teammate Braeden Smith was an Honorable Mention and Martin County West’s Chase Owens was an Honorable Mention.
Madelia head coach Jeff Van Hee was named the Valley Division Coach of the Year.
