Sleepy Eye 72, GFW 70

WINTHROP — Sleepy Eye eked out a 72-70 win over Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in a Tomahawk Division boys basketball game on Friday.

Braylon Nelson led the Indians with 22 points and three rebounds, while Chase Zufall had 20 points and seven rebounds. Robert Romberg and Brayden Heiderscheidt both had 10 points, while Eric Lozano had 7 points, 10 assists and five rebounds.

Cole Jacobson led all scorers for the Firebirds with 37 points, while Kaden Rieke had 17 points.

Sleepy Eye (12-8, 7-7) hosts Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey on Monday, while GFW (13-8, 9-4) hosts New Ulm Cathedral on Tuesday.

MVL 76, Sibley East 44

ARLINGTON — Minnesota Valley Lutheran rolled Sibley East 76-44 in a South Central Conference boys basketball game on Friday.

Owen Birkholz led the Chargers with 27 points, three rebounds and three steals, while Pierson Brau had 15 points and seven rebounds. Luke Merseth added 10 points and four rebounds.

Ezra Weber scored 20 for Sibley East, while Will Feterl had 12 and Riley Bussler had 10.

MVL (14-6, 4-2) play at Blue Earth Area on Tuesday, while Sibley East (5-14, 0-6) hosts Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Monday.

Madelia 90, AC/GE 51

MADELIA — Madelia cruised by Alden-Conger/Glenville Emmons 90-51 in a Valley Division boys basketball game to clinch a share of the Valley Division Championship with Nicollet on Friday.

Kaydon Firchau led the Blackhawks with 28 points, seven assists, four rebounds and four steals, while Caden McMullen had 25 points and six rebounds. Leilynd Hundley added 14 points.

Madelia (16-3, 10-2) hosts New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva on Tuesday.

Wabasso 99, Benson 60

BENSON — Wabasso topped Benson 99-60 in a nonconference boys basketball game on Friday.

Brayden Guetter led the Rabbits with 27 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals, while Caden Frericks had 24 points and 17 rebounds. Drew Kemp added 17 points, four rebounds and five assists.

Wabasso (20-2) plays at Cedar Mountain on Tuesday.

Springfield 86, BLHS 48

HECTOR — Springfield rolled by Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 86-48 in a Tomahawk Division boys basketball game on Friday.

Brecken Heiling led the Tigers with 23 points and eight rebounds, while Madden Lendt had 18 points and seven rebound with four assists. Bryan Buerkle had 13 points and six rebounds, while Aiden Moriarty had 10 points and seven rebounds.

No statistics were reported for BLHS.

Springfield (16-4, 13-1) plays at Sleepy Eye on Tuesday. BLHS (1-17, 0-12) plays at New Ulm Cathedral on Saturday.

DELANO — Delano downed New Ulm 71-59 in a nonconference girls basketball game on Friday.

Brooklyn Lewis led the Eagles with 20 points, six rebounds and seven assists, while Maggie Joyce had 15 points, four rebounds and four assists. Riley Wilson had 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Leah Brustad had 10 points and six rebounds.

New Ulm (14-7) plays at Tri-City United on Monday.

BLHS 69, Springfield 59

HECTOR — Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart defeated Springfield 69-59 in a Tomahawk Division girls basketball game on Friday.

Olivia Milbrath had 23 points for Springfield, while Jada Reese had 22 points.
