MORGAN — Cole Jacobson set a single-game school record for Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop by scoring 48 points during a 65-51 win over Cedar Mountain in a Tomahawk Division boys basketball game on Thursday.

Owen Swenson and Luke Bastian both added 5 points for GFW.

Thomas Dahmes led the Cougars with 16 points and 16 rebounds, while Carson Schiller had 11 points and nine rebounds. Jackson Guetter added 10 points and seven rebounds.

GFW (13-7, 9-3) hosts Sleepy Eye on Friday, while Cedar Mountain (1-15, 1-10) hosts New Ulm Cathedral on Friday.

Madelia 98, MCW 53

SHERBURN — Kaydon Firchau scored 30 points in his return from a five-week injury to lead Madelia to a 98-53 win over Martin County West in a Valley Division boys basketball game on Thursday.

Bryce Borkenhagen had 25 points, 11 assists, five rebounds and four steals, while Dalton Tatro had 15 points and four rebounds. Caden McMullen added 10 points, seven rebounds and five blocks.

Madelia (15-3, 9-2) hosts Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons on Friday.

Nicollet 74, GHEC/T/ML 60

GRANADA — Nicollet defeated Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther 74-60 in a Valley Division boys basketball game on Thursday.

With the win, Nicollet clinched a share of the Valley Division title and a birth to the Tomahawk-Valley Conference Championship game.

Henry Kennedy had 27 points and 14 rebounds for Nicollet, while Carson Kettner had 18 points and 11 rebounds. Abe Madson added 11 points.

Nicollet (15-4, 10-2) hosts Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Monday.

Wabasso 94, YME 38

WABASSO — Wabasso rolled Yellow Medicine East 94-38 in a nonconference boys basketball game on Thursday.

Drew Kemp led the Rabbits with 24 points, four rebounds and nine assists, while Brayden Guetter had 17 points, three assists and three blocks. Tavyn Larson had 16 points, Caden Frericks added 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Brooks Baune had 10 points and three assists.

Wabasso (19-2) plays at Benson on Friday.

JCC 94, Springfield 66

JACKSON — Jackson County Central defeated Springfield 94-66 in a nonconference boys basketball game on Thursday.

Brecken Heiling led the Tigers with 18 points and five rebounds, while Dylan Simonson had 12 points and four rebounds.

Springfield (15-4) plays at Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Thursday.

St. Mary’s 75,

Lester Prairie 28

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s rolled Lester Prairie 75-28 to clinch the Tomahawk Division Girls Basketball Championship on Thursday.

Morgan Mathiowetz led the Knights with 30 points, five rebounds, six assists and four steals, while Olivia Schieffert had 14 points, three rebounds, eight assists and four steals.

St. Mary’s (19-1, 15-0) plays at Martin County West on Friday.

Nicollet 72, AC/GE 53

NICOLLET — For the first time since 2007, Nicollet clinched the Valley Division title with a 72-53 win over Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons Thursday in a Valley Division girls basketball game.

Jazmyn Goettlicher had 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists for Nicollet, while Zoie Rengstorf had 18 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. Cheyenne Klockziem had 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Nicollet (16-6, 11-1) play at Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Thursday.

Sleepy Eye 69, GFW 28

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye cruised by Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 69-28 in a Tomahawk Division girls basketball game on Thursday.

Jaelyn Schauman led the Indians with 20 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and four steals, while Jace Schauman had 17 points, five rebounds, three assists and five steals. Alexis Hoffman had 15 points and seven rebounds, while Taylor Berkner had 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.

No statistics were reported for GFW.

Sleepy Eye (13-10, 9-6) hosts Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey on Monday, while GFW (3-17, 1-13) hosts Nicollet on Saturday.

NEW ULM — Cedar Mountain topped New Ulm Cathedral 67-35 in a Tomahawk Division girls basketball game on Thursday.

Kendra Erickson led the Cougars with 21 points, eight rebounds and two assists, while Aubrey Steffl had 19 points, 12 rebounds, eight steals and five assists. Kendra Lueck added 12 points, six rebounds and four steals.

Shay Wilfahrt had 9 points for Cathedral, while Thea Paszkiewicz had 8 points.

Cedar Mountain (17-3, 11-2) hosts Red Rock Central on Monday, while Cathedral (8-13, 5-9) hosts Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Saturday.

St. Clair 62, MVL 36

ST. CLAIR — St. Clair defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran 62-36 in a South Central Conference girls basketball game on Thursday.

Violet Hammer led the Chargers with 11 points, while Olivia Hammer had 10 points and three rebounds.

MVL (10-8, 3-3) hosts Sibley East on Friday.
