I was made aware that the list of the top 50 scorers in the New Ulm area, printed in The Journal’s 2025 Winter Preview, was missing a significant player.

Winthrop’s Nancy Trebbensee, who graduated from Winthrop High School in 1980, not only qualifies for the list, but scored 2,446 career points without the help of the 3-point line, good enough for seventh-most in the area.

In addition, Andrea Fennern, a 2006 Wabasso graduate, scored 2,331 career points, which lands her in eighth place just behind Trebbensee.

Trebbensee is the oldest player on the list and exposes what may be a gap in my research, being the older girls basketball players, especially from the Gibbon, Fairfax and Winthrop schools before they united to form GFW. I have been able to confirm that I am not missing any more 2,000-point scorers, but any player that recorded between 1,650 and 1,999 points may be missing.
