NEW ULM — The New Ulm High School bowling teams finished their regular season with impressive results across both varsity and junior varsity levels.

The New Ulm Junior Varsity Black team claimed first place in the Southwest Conference regular season, outscoring five other teams including GFW, Sibley East Gold, Sibley East Black, New Ulm Silver, and Hutchinson. The JV Black team also earned second place in the conference tournament this past weekend in Hutchinson.

With their strong performance, the New Ulm JV Black team has qualified to compete in the JV State Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 23, in Bloomington.

Several standout middle school athletes were also selected to participate in the Rising Stars Tournament, which features promising seventh- and eighth-grade bowlers from across the state. This event forms two all-star teams from the top scorers in each conference.

This year, Lucas Furth, Jack Schaefer, and Korbin Olson were named to Team 1 in the Southwest Conference, while Nora Krueger and Douglas Foster Jr. will represent Team 2. The Rising Stars Tournament will be held on Sunday, Nov. 30, in South St. Paul.

On the varsity side, Jackson Sharits, Keagan Reinarts, and Noah Braun were each named to the All-Conference Second Team and will compete at the Varsity State Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 29, in Bloomington.

Additional honors were presented at the conference awards ceremony. The All-Honors Team, which recognizes bowlers who exemplify sportsmanship and respect for teammates, opponents, and the sport of bowling, included Korbin Hartig, Grace Holberg, and Owen Rasche.

Lucas Furth earned the overall highest-scoring bowler in the Southwest Conference JV division topping a field of over 50 bowlers.

The New Ulm bowling program continues to grow, featuring four teams total: one varsity, two junior varsity, and one junior-junior varsity team made up of talented fifth- and sixth-graders who are not yet old enough to compete in high school tournaments but are developing their skills for future seasons.

The program is led by dedicated coaches: Matt Wilhelmi (Varsity), Bryce Roiger (JV Black), Eric Reker (JV Silver), and John Sanford (JJV/Strike Force).

The New Ulm bowling program offers a special thanks to Concordia Lanes Bowling Alley for their continued support.

Starting at $4.50/week.
