FOREST CITY, Iowa — The Martin Luther College men’s basketball team tipped off the 2025-26 season with a road contest at NAIA school, Waldorf University.

The Knights squared off with the Warriors in an exhibition game last season in New Ulm to begin the year and beat Waldorf 90-76. On Tuesday evening, the Warriors earned the win 84-62.

MLC hung with Waldorf for the first 10 minutes of the first half, but then the Warriors put together a 17-3 run within a six-minute span to go up double digits. Waldorf continued its scoring spurt and went into halftime up 49-28.

In the second half, Waldorf maintained a balanced scoring attack to keep its separation from MLC as 10 of 11 players on Waldorf got into the scoring column.

Neither team shot well from beyond the arc, but Waldorf hit high percentage shots and connected on 46 percent of their shots thanks to 44 points in the paint.

Adam Loberger began his sophomore campaign with a nice outing, scoring almost half of MLC’s points (27) on 50 percent shooting. Loberger also led the Knights in rebounds (7) and steals (3). Austin Erickson returned to the court and added 9 points and four rebounds, while Luke Fix had 8 points and six boards.

MLC will now play its first home game of the season with a 7 p.m. tip-off against Augsburg University on Friday.

Starting at $4.50/week.
