New Ulm bounces back, splits tri

NEW ULM — The New Ulm girls tennis team had a tough time dealing with Waconia on Friday in their first match of the day but rebounded well to finish a triangular with a win over River Valley.
Waconia won 6-1 over New Ulm before the Eagles ended the day with a 4-3 win over River Valley.
New Ulm got its lone win against Waconia from Natalie Fischer at No. 2 singles, who defeated Adele Hunstiger 7-5, 6-0.
River Valley got a win at No. 1 singles when Taylor Berkner defeated Fischer 6-0, 6-1. River Valley also got a win at No. 3 singles as Chloe Okerman defeated Lilly Kral 6-0, 6-2. River Valley’s other win against New Ulm came at No. 1 doubles when Delaney Rex and Alisyn Danielson beat Lydia Osborne and Maggie Joyce 7-5, 6-4.
New Ulm’s Carmen Schotzko got a win over River Valley’s Selene Krohnfeldt 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, while Avah Kruse defeated Dani Junker 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. New Ulm’s No. 2 doubles team of Every Batt and Brielle Evans defeated Morgan Annsdorf and Reagan Moody 6-1, 6-0, while the No. 3 doubles team of Eleanor Grathwohl and Lilly Rieger defeated Jazzy Robertson and Alayna Beyer 5-7, 6-4, 12-10 in a back-and-forth No. 3 doubles match.
New Ulm will host Hutchinson in a tennis match on Monday starting at 4:30 p.m., while River Valley is at Worthington for a 9 a.m. match Saturday. The Eagles have another home meet Tuesday against Tri-City United at 4:30 p.m.
