Sievert crashes, escapes unharmed at Arlington Raceway

ARLINGTON — There was extra action in the EZ Wash & Storage Truck Cross feature when the 77 of Cody Sievert flopped on his side on lap three of the race.

Sievert was uninjured, but out of the feature. The lead and eventual win went to Josh Compton as he won his first feature of the year. Mitchell Penaz who had led the first two laps before the rollover held on to take second place behind Compton. Brandon Kuhl was awarded third place.

Patrick Oestreich led the Jack Pines Resort IMCA Hobby for the first lap of the feature but a yellow flag was thrown when Travis Koester spun on the backstretch. That gave the lead to RJ Esqueda, and he was able to hold to that for two laps until another yellow came out when Brad Becker had a mishap. Then Chad Volk had troubles and went into the pit. Hardcharging Cory Probst was once again able to take over the top spot and go onto win the race with Dad Dan taking second ahead of Esqueda.

Dale Gatton led the entire Coors Lite IMCA Sport Compact feature from start to finish in the almost flawless race. With only two laps left, Gary Schumacher had troubles and left the track, finishing his night.

A first lap caution flag occurred in the Olson Snowplowing & Lawn Care Outlaw Hobby feature when the 99 of Zach Wisch hit an infield tire going into Turn 1. On the restart, Craig Groebner spun and Karl Hewitt got collected with him putting Hewitt out of the race. Once the race actually got started Cody Flewelling led the first half of the race, but on the seventh lap, Jesse Anderson slid by him and took over the lead and went onto to win Mark Oestreich moved from his fourth-place start to take second and Garett Uecker took third.

Another first lap yellow came out in the Arlington State Bank IMCA Sport Modified feature when Broddy Enter made contact while trying to get around Joey Reimers and spun around. After that, the race was smooth sailing with Jeff Carter leading from start to finish as Jeff Lloyd moved up into a comfortable second place with Eric Larson following him to finish in that order.

The Rice Companies IMCA Sprint car feature saw rookie Brayden Allen lead for seven laps but he was trying to race the high side of the track and slipped off Turn 2 as Neal Stevens was able to drive underneath of him and take over the lead. Allen tried the high side again coming out of 4, but veteran driver Trevor Serbus was able to get by him. Then the race was between Stevens and Serbus. Lap by lap, Serbus was gaining on Stevens, but in the end Stevens took the checkered first. Matt Hasara took third place.

Chris Neisen took off like a rocket in the B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car feature from his pole position start. By the third time around, Andrea McCain got around him coming out of Turn 2 and led the next 13 laps of the race, but she knew the pack was right behind her Cars were pulling off the track with shortening the field but no yellows were thrown. Lap by lap, Dan Mackenthun was moving forward and had his sights on the top spot. By lap 16 going down the backstretch, he got around McCain to take the lead and go onto win. She settled for second ahead of Ken Tietz.

The Ottomotive Tire & Repair IMCA Modified feature saw five different leaders for an exciting race. Jason Schroeder led the first lap, but the second time around Todd Stinehart, who had started eighth, got around him to take over the race. On Lap 6, Trent Loverude, driving with a broken foot, battled with Stinehart with the two of them exchanging the top spot. Clint Hatlestad was also in the mix with them. A yellow came out on Lap 14 when the 21g of Govig spun and JJ Reimers got collected with him. On the restart, Hatlestad got around Stinehart and then he and Loverude exchanged spots three different times in the last lap. Coming out of Turn 4 for the checkered, it was Hatlestad inches ahead of Loverude, but at the line, Loverude was inches ahead of Hatlestad to take the win and make an exciting finish.
