TRUMAN — Sleepy Eye downed Springfield 10-2 during the Southwest Sub-State Legion Baseball Tournament Friday at Truman.

Marcus Martinez earned the win for Sleepy Eye, striking out two while allowing two runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings. At the plate, Jon Petermann was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Talan Helget was 2 for 5 with an RBI. Kessler Severson was 2 for 3 with two runs cored, and Carson Uecker and Cody Schultz each had a hit and an RBI. Tyler Mathiowetz was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Jackson Ludewig took the loss for Springfield, striking out seven while allowing eight runs, four earned, on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings. At the plate, Eli Heglund and Thomas Beers each had a hit and an RBI, while Ludewig and Eli Streich had a hit and a run scored.

Sleepy Eye plays Luverne Saturday at 5 p.m. in Truman, while Springfield takes on Wabasso at 2 p.m. in Truman.

Wabasso 4, Wells 1

TRUMAN — Wabasso Legion defeated Wells 4-1 in the elimination bracket of the Southwest Sub-State Legion Baseball Tournament Friday at Truman.

Nathan Riley earned the win for Wabasso, striking out eight while allowing one run on three hits in a complete game. At the plate, Calvin Hanna was 2 for 3 with two runs scored, while Kaysen Harms was 2 for 2 with a run scored. Caden Frericks had a hit and an RBI.

Wabasso faces Springfield at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Truman.
