Ethan Schmidt, 12 years old of New Ulm, recently competed in several Minnesota Junior Prep Tour golf events in the 10- to 12-year-old division.

On Friday, June 27, at Baker National in Medina, Minnesota, Schmidt tied for second, shooting a +4 (34).

On Tuesday, July 1, at CreeksBend Golf Course in New Prague, he finished tied for second, shooting a +1 (36) and falling by one stroke in his title defense.

On Wednesday, July 2, Schmidt went up against the best 10- to 12-year-olds in the state, competing in the Minnesota 12 and Under Junior PGA Championship at Applewood Hills Golf Course in Stillwater, Minnesota. He tied for fifth place out of 44 golfers. Schmidt shot a +5 (67) and finished strong by making par on the last eight holes.
