Jaxx fall to Rails in hit parade
WABASSO — In a game that featured 27 hits, the Wabasso Jaxx fell to the Willmar Rails 14-11 on Sunday in a Corn Belt League amateur baseball game.
The Rails outhit the Jaxx 16-11 in the win, led by Gavin Banks’ 4-for-6 day at the plate that featured two doubles. Gunnar Banks was 2 for 4 with a homer and five RBIs also for Willmar, with his homer being a three-run, go-ahead homer in the ninth to give the Rails the 14-11 lead.
Adam Herman got the win in two innings of relief, allowing three hits and two walks for four runs, one earned.
Colton Taylor was 3 for 5 with two runs scored to lead Wabasso at the plate, while Carter Guetter was 2 for 4 and Joe Liebl was 2 for 6 with an RBI. Adryen Tietz also hit a solo homer for the Jaxx. Josh Guetter was tagged with the loss in three innings of relief, allowing three hits and two walks for three earned runs while striking out one.
Wabasso is now 4-5 in the Corn Belt League, while Willmar is 2-0. The Jaxx will be at Sacred Heart for another CBL game on Wednesday night.
