St. James wins 10-inning TEL battle with Lamberton

LAMBERTON — St. James defeated Lamberton 3-2 in 10 innings in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game on Tuesday.

Connor Jones earned the win for St. James, striking out five and allowing two runs on eight hits in nine innings of work. At the plate, Chase Bottin was 2 for 5 with two RBIs, while Max Westman had a hit and an RBI.

Austin Imker took the loss for Lamberton, striking out four while allowing one run on two hits in 2 2/3 innings. Quintyn Vold pitched 7 1/3 innings, striking out 12 while allowing two runs on five hits. At the plate, Neil Eichten was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, while Luke Willhite had a hit and a run scored.

The teams played scoreless baseball for five innings before St. James scored in the top of the sixth on a single by Westman. Lamberton scored twice in the bottom of the inning as Eichten earned a two-RBI single. St. James tied it up again in the eighth on a single by Bottin, and the teams remained knotted up until another single by Bottin gave St. James the lead in the top of the 10th.

St. James (5-6) hosts Courtland on Wednesday, while Lamberton (7-5) hosts New Ulm on Sunday.
