Arlington Raceway sees new winners in 2nd weekend

ARLINGTON — New drivers in victory lane make for a great night of racing.

George Motto led the first two laps of the Jack Pines Resort IMCA Hobby feature, a second lap yellow flag occurred which put three cars into the pit area. On the restart, Chad Volk took over the race with Cory Probst making a last lap effort to slide under him but Volk held on for his first feature win eve. Probst took second and Dad Dan Probst took third ahead of Jordan Robinson.

There were three leaders in the Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact feature with Alan Lahr taking the lead on the first lap but by lap three Dale Gatton had control of the race as Lahr fell back in the field. Gatton led the next four laps until Brandon Backstrom came from his fifth row start and got around him to lead the remaining four laps and win his first feature of the year. Gatton took second. RJ Esqueda took third ahead of Lahr but Lahr was disqualified for not going to tech so Gary Schumacher got the fourth-place spot.

Dan Eckblad was successful once again the Olson Snowplowing and Lawn Care Outlaw Hobby feature as he took the lead from Rod Manthey on the second lap and never looked back. Garett Uecker moved up from his seventh place start to challenge Eckblad but had to settle for second. On the 10th lap a yellow came out for Bill Braunworth and Mark Oestreich as well as Beau Frauendienst found they were the victims of the incident which ended they’re night of racing. On the restart Eckblad commanded the race once again and went onto win with Uecker taking second his first night out and Scott Porter taking third.

Eric Larson won his first Arlington State Bank IMCA Sport Modified feature as he led the entire race from start to finish. Zac Davis and Matt Looft fought each other the entire race and on the last lap Looft got around Davis to take second with Davis taking third. Ben Reierson took fourth place.

Cole Reichel led the first four laps of the Rice Companies IMCA Sprint feature from his pole position start. On the fifth lap, Trevor Serbus got around him and two laps later Brett Allen did as well. The race went flag to flag and Serbus won again ahead of Brett Allen and newcomer Brandon Halverson.

The B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car feature saw 19 cars begin the feature, there was a first lap yellow for the 34 car of Dakota Robinson. He was able to resume but on lap 11 found himself in the pit area. Once the race got started the ford powered car of Brent Uecker led from start to finish to win his first race of the year. Contenders behind him were Dave Moriarty and Dan Eckblad exchanging spots as Eckblad got around him on the last lap and Matt Looft took fourth place.

Chad Porter was the early leader in the Ottomotive Tire & Repair IMCA Modified, on lap 10 Jason Schroeder took over the top spot but it only lasted for one lap as a yellow came out. After that yellow, Trent Loverude took over the race with Dan Menk following him around for the last half of the race. Loverude won this first feature of the year and Menk held on for second ahead of Todd Stinehart.
