BELLE PLAINE — After beating Belle Plaine a week ago, New Ulm downed Belle Plaine again on Monday in a Big South Conference softball game by a score of 3-1.
Ramsey Hopp earned the win for the Eagles, striking out four while giving up one unearned run on two hits and three walks. At the plate, Hopp was 2 for 2, while Kenzie Enter was 2 for 4 with a triple, three steals, an RBI and a run scored. Lauren Schmiesing had a double, two steals, an RBI and a run scored.
New Ulm (12-3, 8-1) hosts a doubleheader against Tri-City United on Tuesday.

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye shut out Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 22-0 in four innings Monday in a Tomahawk-Division softball game.
Callie Evers was the winning pitcher, striking out two and allowing one hit. Taylor Berkner pitched two innings, striking out five and allowing one hit. At the plate for Sleepy Eye, Paige Haala was 3 for 5 with a home run, five RBIs and three runs scored, while Evers was 2 for 3 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Jaelynn Schaumann was 2 for 2 with two RBIs and three runs scored, while Kenley Jensen was 2 for 4 with an RBI and three runs scored. Berkner was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Berkner was the winning pitcher, striking out eight while allowing one run on one hit. At the plate, Paige Haala was 3 for 3 with two RBIs, a triple, a double and three runs scored, while Callie Evers was 2 for 4 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Berkner was 2 for 2 with three RBIs.
Sleepy Eye (14-4) travels to play Martin County West on Tuesday.

HECTOR — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s downed Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 10-2 in a Tomahawk Division softball game on Monday.
Taylor Mathiowetz earned the win for the Knights, striking out 11 while allowing two runs on six hits and two walks. At the plate, Reese Hoffmann was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs, while Olivia Schieffert was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. Josie Helget was 2 for 5 with a triple and an RBI, while Mathiowetz had a hit and two runs scored.
St. Mary’s (4-12, 4-8) hosts Cleveland on Tuesday.

NICOLLET — Nicollet defeated Red Rock Central 9-2 in a nonconference softball game on Monday.
Leah Bode earned the win, striking out 12 while allowing one earned run on five hits. At the plate, Chloe Kachelmeier was 2 for 2 with three RBIs and three runs scored, while Madison Kettner and Cason Forbrook each had a hit and an RBI.
Nicollet (10-5) awaits playoff seeding.

Koufax Rose was the winning pitcher for GFW, striking out six while allowing one run on two hits. At the plate, Kaden Rieke was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Will Bastian was 2 for 4 with two RBIs.
Riley Bussler took the loss for Sibley East, striking out one and allowing three runs on four hits. At the plate, Leyton Dose was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored, while Evan Pautsch had a hit.
GFW (5-11) plays at Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Tuesday, while Sibley East (11-6) travels for a doubleheader against Maple River on Tuesday.

SPRINGFIELD — Windom defeated Springfield 14-4 in five innings in a nonconference baseball game on Monday.
Madden Lendt took the loss, striking out two and allowing seven earned runs on eight hits. At the plate, Noah Neperman was 2 for 3 with an RBI, while Kade Nachreiner had a hit and an RBI. Russell Beers and Lendt added a hit and a run scored each.
Springfield (13-4) plays at Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Monday.

New Ulm girls take 7th in conference meet
MORTON — The New Ulm girls golf team placed seventh out of 12 teams in the third leg of the Big South Conference Girls Golf Tournament on Monday, scoring a 439.
Marshall won the meet with a score of 397.
Maddy Wellmann led New Ulm, placing ninth with a score of 100. Lillian Kral (109) placed 23rd, while Brogan Thordson (113) placed 34th. Lydia Osborne (117) placed 43rd.

River Valley boys, girls take 1st at home meet
SLEEPY EYE — The River Valley boys and girls track and field teams finished first in a home meet on Monday.
The boys scored a 128 to take first in front of Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop (126), Martin County West (124), Mankato Loyola/Cleveland (104) and Redwood Valley (51).
The girls took first with a 181 in front of GFW (129), Loyola/Cleveland (97), Redwood Valley (75) and MCW (46).
The River Valley boys were led by Matthew Groebner, who took first in the 3,200 (10:23.21), while the 4×400 relay team of Gianluka Fernandez, Lucas Hensch, Noah Christensen and Groebner took first (3:38.71). The 4×800 team of Gianluka Fernandez, Matthew Fernandez, Christensen and Groebner also took first (9:17).
The GFW boys were led by Jose Oscar Farias Banda, who took first in the 400 (58.46), while Easton Taylor took first in the 110-meter hurdles (16.47). Dominic Krumwiede took first in the discus (159-0), while Brayden Miller took first in the long jump (17-6.75).
The River Vallet girls saw Marley Hewitt take first in the 200 (26.73) and 400 (1:01.06), while the 4×100 relay team of Yessenia Fernandez, Brynne Ibberson, Yanellie Fernandez and Leah Kucera took first (54.88). The River Valley girls 4×400 relay team of Hewitt, Millie Lax, Marissa Pabst and Ibberson also took first (4:25.63), while the 4×800 team of Katie Thram, Lydia Dauer, Ibberson and Pabst took first (10:57.14). Dauer took first in the pole vault (8-0), while Hewitt took first in the long jump (13-2.75).
The GFW girls saw Kinley Bruns take first in the 100 (13.33), while Annie Wersal took first in the shot put (31-7) and first in the discus (112-3). Trinity Stearns took first in the high jump (4-8).
