ST. PAUL — The UMAC All-Conference awards and recognition were announced on Wednesday morning and MLC golfer Ben Pearson was named the UMAC Rookie of the Year.
Pearson becomes the first MLC golfer to earn the honor since the UMAC made it an award in the 2017 season. The freshman had multiple top-five finishes throughout the season and led the Knights in most of the individual standings.
Pearson took fourth at the UMAC Preview on September 12 after shooting a score of 75 and had the best finish of any underclassmen men’s golfer at MLC. Pearson placed in a sixth-place tie at the UMAC Championships in early October and shot in 75, 83, and 81 strokes throughout the three rounds of golf. Pearson’s score of 72 strokes at the MLC Fall Invitational was his lowest season result.
Noah Walta and Myah Loberger, who represent the MLC men’s and women’s teams, were chosen as the individual sportsmanship recipients.
