ST. PAUL — A member of the Martin Luther College women’s soccer team has earned Player of the Week accolades for a second consecutive week as Maria Vik was named the Upper MIdwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week (9/9-9/15). The freshman recorded a shutout in MLC’s 1-0 win over Minnesota Morris on Thursday and the goalkeeper prevented any possible comeback from the Cougars and made 13 saves in 90 minutes of action.

Vik followed up Thursday’s performance with another nice effort, allowing only two goals to a strong Ripon team on Saturday. Despite the 2-0 loss, Vik notched three saves.

Vik and the MLC women’s soccer team continues their season with another matchup against Minnesota Morris on Wednesday, September 18, at 2 p.m.
