New Ulm falls to BEA in girls tennis

NEW ULM – Blue Earth Area defeated New Ulm 5-2 on Tuesday in a Big South Conference girls tennis match.
New Ulm won at No. 1 Singles when Karlee Prahl defeated Grace Hanson 6-2, 7-6(3). Carmen Schotzko downed Abbey Lorenz 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 Singles.
Eagles Head coach Pete Engeldinger was pleased with Schotzko win. “That’s pretty huge for a No. 3 [singles] player [to win],” he said.
Joci Pettersen lost to BEA’s Addison Prescher 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. New Ulm’s Natalie Fischer lost to Abigail Graff at No. 4 Singles 6-2, 6-0.
BEA won all three of the doubles sets. Aubrey Demarais and Everly Batt lost to Carol Schrader and Erin Prescher 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 Doubles. Lillian Kral and Kaylee Evans lost to Grace Schavey and Brooklyn Rosenau 7-5, 6-0 at No. 2 Doubles
Brielle Evans and Natlie Schwartz lost to McKinley Hanson and Katelyn Storbeck 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 Doubles.
“It was a good match,” Engeldinger said. “We played well. They traditionally have a solid team; kudos to them.”
New Ulm’s next match will be on Thursday at Tri-City United.
