Kids Weekend at Region 2C tourney begins Saturday

NEW ULM/SLEEPY EYE — This coming weekend, Aug. 3 & 4, will be Kids Weekend at the Region 2C Amateur Baseball Tournament.

All kids ages 17 and under will get into the games for free and receiver a free hot dog. There will also be activities and prizes for kids given out.

This weekend’s slate of games begin Saturday in New Ulm at Johnson Park as the No. 4 Springfield Tigers will take on the No. 10 Fairfax Cardinals at 11 a.m. in an elimination bracket game. The action continues with a 1:30 p.m. elimination game between the No. 6 Lamberton Long Sox and the No. 2 Leavenworth Orioles.

Then at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, No. 1 New Ulm Brewers will battle the No. 5 Hanska Lakers in a game with a state-qualifying bid on the line. In the nightcap at 7 p.m., another state-qualifying game will see the No. 3 Courtland Cubs against the No. 7 Stark Longhorns.

Sunday’s games will take place at Sleepy Eye Ballpark, beginning with a 12 p.m. winners’ bracket game. Then a pair of elimination bracket games will follow at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., with both of those games being a state qualifier.
