Geiger, Grizzlies take down Indians in TEL action
SLEEPY EYE — The Searles Grizzlies held off the Sleepy Eye Indians in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game on Wednesday night.
Nick Dewanz got the win for Searles in six innings, allowing seven hits and three walks for three earned runs while striking out four.
Tony Geiger led Searles at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a homer, a double and three RBIs, while Connor Bode was 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Kasey Kuck, Kedar Schmitz and Noah Wilmes all each had a double and an RBI for the Grizzlies also.
Luke Mielke took the loss on the mound for Sleepy Eye in 3 2/3 innings, allowing seven hits and three walks for seven earned runs while striking out three. Mielke was 3 for 5 with a double and two RBIs to lead Sleepy Eye at the plate, while Cody Schultz was 2 for 4 and Matt Sellner was 2 for 5 with three RBIs.
Searles (3-10) hosts Stark at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, while Sleepy Eye (5-8) hosts Leavenworth at 1 p.m. Sunday.
