Tigers finish regular season with win over Crusaders

MANKATO — The Springfield Tigers held off the Mankato Loyola Crusaders on Tuesday in a nonconference boys basketball game.

The win moved the Tigers to 19-7 overall on the season. Springfield is the No. 2 seed in the south side of the Section 2A Boys Basketball Tournament bracket and will open the tournament by hosting Madelia at 8:01 p.m. Tuesday.

Brayden Sturm led a balanced attack in the Tigers’ win over Loyola, scoring 16 points and adding five assists. Also for the Tigers, Noah Vogel had 15 points, while Ben Potter had 13 points and five assists, Easton Jensen had 12 points, six rebounds and four assists and Bryan Buerkle added 11 points and eight rebounds.

The Tigers outshot the Crusaders 46.6%-44.8% and outrebounded them 36-26.
