BROOKINGS, S.D. — New Ulm VFW Silver went 2-0 on Friday at the Buffalo Wild Wings Tournament.

In the first game, Silver defeated the Yankton Black Sox 6-5. Collin Forstner got the win on the mound, while Ryan Rathman got the save. Zach Hubbard was 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs to lead Silver at the plate.

In Game 2, New Ulm topped the Watertown Red Sox 8-1. Candon Briggs went four innings on the mound for the win. Cohen Domeier, Rathman, Forstner and Kyle Albrecht all collected two hits in the win, with Albrecht getting two RBIs and picking two runners off first from the catcher position.

Sleepy Eye 13, Jackson 7

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye Post 7 downed Jackson 13-7 in a Sub-Sub-State legion baseball game Friday, clinching a spot in the Sub-State playoffs.

Winsten Nienhaus earned the win for Sleepy Eye, getting four strikeouts while allowing two hits and no earned runs in 2 2/3 innings pitched. Mark Anderson started the game, getting four strikeouts and allowing seven earned runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Arian Saenz led Post 7 at the plate, going 3 for 5 with three RBIs and two runs scored, while Talan Helget went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and a run scored. Kaleb wait added two hits and two runs scored for Sleepy Eye.

Sleepy Eye plays the winner of Jackson and Springfield Saturday at 1 p.m.
