Chargers bolt past Sibley East in Section 3AA playoffs

NEW ULM — The third-seeded Minnesota Valley Lutheran Chargers jumped out to a 20-0 lead after the first quarter and went on to top sixth-seeded Sibley East 40-8 Tuesday night in a Section 3AA football playoff game.
Ben Price scored touchdowns on runs of 1, 47 and 9 yards, with Bradyn Kube scoring on a 6-yard run.
Kaden Peterson threw a touchdown pass of 39 yards to Kyler Flunker and a 12-yard strike to Ben Pearson.
The Chargers now will play at second-seeded Pipestone Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
“We came out and jumped to that lead right away,” Chargers head coach Jim Buboltz said.
MVL opened the game on their second possession of the game with a six-play, 57-yard drive that was capped off with 6-yard run from Bradyn Kube.
After Will Kaesermann recovered a Wolverines fumble, Kaden Peterson hooked up with Kyle Flunker for a 39-yard touchdown for a 14-0 lead.
Ben Price would up the lead to 20-0 on a 1-yard run with 39 seconds left in the first quarter.
Game, set, match.
Price’s second touchdown of the game came midway through the second quarter when he broke loose for a 47-yard run and a 28-0 lead.
A Price 9-yard run early in the fourth quarter made it a 34-0 game before Peterson teamed up with Ben Pearson on a 7-yard scoring pass.
Sibley East got its lone score of the game late on a 40-yard touchdown pass.
