SLEEPY EYE — Hailey Hollar reached 1,000 career digs on Tuesday as Cedar Mountain swept Sleepy Eye 25-16, 25-21, 25-19 a Tomahawk Conference volleyball match.

Hollar also led the team in kill with 14, while Teresa Larsen had nine kills, Aubrey Steffl had eight kills, Mykenna Vollmer had seven kills and Nadia Meyers had 31 set assists and six kills.

Sleepy Eye was led by Kadence Hesse’s 15 kills, 10 digs and two blocks, while Breaunna Mertz had seven kills and 20 digs and Brooke Arneson had 28 set assists and 15 digs.

Sleepy Eye hosts Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s for a nonconference matchup on Thursday, while Cedar Mountain (16-5, 6-1) is at an invitational at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall on Friday.

BLHS 3, MVL 1

NEW ULM — Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart topped Minnesota Valley Lutheran 25-27, 25-17, 25-22, 25-18 on Tuesday night in a Tomahawk Conference volleyball match.

MVL was led by Ava Munsen and Becca Kuck’s nine kills each, while Gabbie Bleick added eight kills and 16 digs. Kerigan Brau added 28 set assists and two aces for MVL, while Mackenzie Merseth had six kills, 15 digs and four aces and Ella Hunter had 14 digs.

MVL (2-18, 0-7) is at Maple RIver on Thursday.

Madelia 3,

Mankato Loyola 0

MANKATO — Madelia shut out Mankato Loyola 25-23, 25-10, 25-16 on Tuesday in a Valley Conference volleyball match.

Brooke Lensing led the Blackhawks with 18 kills, while Ashley Sorenson had 31 set assists and four kills and Ashlynn Sweet had four kills.

Madelia (12-13, 4-2) hosts Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther on Friday.

St. Peter 3, New Ulm 0

ST. PETER — St. Peter swept New Ulm 25-22, 25-16, 25-21 on Tuesday in a Big South Conference volleyball match.

Amber Lee led the Eagles with 28 set assists and seven digs, while Laura Bertrang added seven kills and four blocks and Ella Landsteiner had eight kills and three blocks. Ella Freiderich and Gracie Linbo had eight digs apiece also for the Eagles, while Afton Hulke had three kills and seven digs and Emma Gieseke had four kills.

New Ulm (9-7, 6-2) is at St. James Area on Thursday for a conference match.

Wabasso 3,

Springfield 0

WABASSO — Wabasso swept Springfield 25-11, 26-24, 25-15 on Tuesday night in a Tomahawk Conference volleyball match.

Avery Carlson led the Rabbits with eight kills, four aces and 12 digs, while Natasha Doubler had eight kills and nine digs and Alivia Olson had seven kills. Kelsey Frank had 25 set assists also for the Rabbits, while Sara Carlson had 12 digs and Audrey Johnson had 11 digs.

No stats were submitted by Springfield.

Wabasso (15-7, 6-2) is at Redwood Falls on Oct. 13, while Springfield (4-13, 1-6) is at Redwood Valley on Thursday.

St. Clair 3, Nicollet 2

ST. CLAIR — St. Clair held on to top Nicollet 20-25, 25-20, 18-25, 25-19, 15-11 on Tuesday night in a Valley Conference volleyball match.

Shannon Soost led the Raiders with 14 kills, 15 digs and six blocks, while Brooklyn Bode had 13 kills and two aces and Leah Bode had six kills. Ambria Hoffman added 19 digs for Nicollet, while Mia Lambrecht had 19 set assists and Emma Drill had 17 set assists.

Nicollet (6-13) hosts Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s at 7 p.m. Monday night.

NYA 3, Sibley East 0

ARLINGTON — Norwood Young America swept Sibley East 25-10, 25-16, 25-11 on Tuesday in nonconference volleyball action.

Jessica Wolter led the Wolverines (7-11) in defeat with nine kills and six digs, while Anna Harens had nine set assists and six digs and Lainey Brandt had eight set assists and four digs.

Worthington 4,

New Ulm 1

WORTHINGTON — Worthington defeated New Ulm 4-1 on Tuesday in a Big South Conference boys soccer game.

Ethan Goff had 16 saves for the Eagles in net, while New Ulm took 10 shots on goal. Ben Brownfield scored for New Ulm.

New Ulm hosts Mankato Loyola at noon on Saturday.
