Prep cross-country

BUTTERFIELD — The Springfield/Cedar Mountain girls’ cross country team took first and the boys third on Saturday during Saturday’s Tri-Conference Showdown at Voss Park.

For the Tigers, Emmie McCone took first in 21:20 and Lilly McCone was second in 21:44. Katie Thram was sixth overall in 22:14 and Skyla Dauer was ninth overall in 22:34.

For the boys, Ben Potter took sixth overall in 18:34 and Matthew Groebner was ninth in 18:50. Zach Hensch was 14th (19:24) and Triston Groebner was 19th (19:51).

Madelia competes at St. James tournament

ST. JAMES — Madelia competed at the St. James volleyball tournament on Saturday and went 1-4.

Ashlynn Sweet had six blocks and Dora Facundo had 46 digs. Corban Tatro had 36 digs and 19 kills and Jada Taylor had 31 digs. Ashley Sorenson finished with 61 set assists and 13 kills. Ashynn Sweet had 16 kills.
