WACONIA — New Ulm High School senior Paige Kalis qualified for the State Track and Field Tournament this year in the girls’ long jump after Wednesday’s Section 2AA girls’ meet in Waconia.

Kalis qualified with a jump of 17 feet, 6 1/2 inches. That was first overall at the meet.

Kalis also took ninth in the 100-meter dash on Wednesday with a time of 13.54 and 18th in the 200 with a time of 28.77.

Also for New Ulm, Anne Howard took 11th in the triple jump (32-08) and Nevaeh Ubl took 18th in the discus (84-02).

The state tournament will be from June 17-19 at St. Michael-Albertville High School.
