New Ulm 10, Windom 0

SLEEPY EYE — The New Ulm girls’ hockey team blanked Windom 10-0 on Friday night at the Sleepy Eye Arena in Big South Conference action.

Jada Rahe recorded a hat trick for New Ulm, while Maddi O’Connor and Julia Helget each added two goals. McKenna Strong, Brooke Arenson and Malorie Anderson each added a goal for New Ulm. Anderson and Helget also each had a pair of assists for New Ulm.

Ava Brennan had six saves for New Ulm in the win.

New Ulm next plays at Windom on Monday.

Boys’ Hockey

New Ulm 6, Windom 2

WINDOM — Braxten Hoffmann collected a hat trick as the New Ulm boys’ hockey team defeated Windom 6-2 Friday night in Windom in a Big South Conference game.

Hoffmann also added an assist. Noah Wilmes, Keagan Schiro and Jacob Berg added the other New Ulm goals.

New Ulm goalie Joey Gag had 31 saves.

The Eagles, who had 57 shots on goal, host Windom Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the New Ulm Civic Center.

New Ulm is now 5-0 in the conference and 5-2 overall.

Girls’ Basketball

St. Mary’s 73, Sleepy Eye 49

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s defeated Sleepy Eye 73-49 on Friday in Tomahawk Conference girls’ basketball action at Sleepy Eye High School.

The Knights were led by Madison Mathiowetz’s 45 points, eight rebounds, four assists and five steals, while Sydney Windschitl added 18 points and eight boards.

Sleepy Eye was led by Kadence Hesse’s 15 points and four steals, while Brea Mertz added 11 point and eight rebounds.

The Knights host Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Tuesday, while the Indians host Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Tuesday.

St. Clair 74, Madelia 29

MADELIA — St. Clair topped Madelia 74-29 on Friday night in a Valley Conference girls’ basketball game.

St. Clair was led by Kayla Hine’s 34 points.

Madelia (0-5) is at home Monday when they host Truman/Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain.

Nicollet/Loyola 61, AC/GE 52

ALDEN — Nicollet/Loyola held off Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons on Friday night in a Valley Conference girls’ basketball game.

The Raiders were led by Marah Hulke’s 34 points, while Hayley Selby added 15 points.

Nicollet (4-3) hosts Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial on Tuesday night.

Springfield 54, Cedar Mountain 28

MORGAN — Springfield defeated Cedar Mountain 54-28 on Friday night in a Tomahawk Conference girls’ basketball game.

Springfield was led by Brooklyn Sturm’s 16 points, while Maddy Diggman added 11.

Cedar Mountain was led by Megan Sandgren’s 8 points.

Springfield (4-2) is at New Ulm Cathedral on Tuesday, while Cedar Mountain (0-5) hosts Wabasso on Tuesday.

Boys’ Basketball

Wabasso 75, BLHS 63

HECTOR — Wabasso took down Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Friday night in Tomahawk Conference boys’ basketball action.

Wabasso was led by Will Carlson’s 29 points, while Isaac Kronback added 23 points.

BLHS got 15 points each from Braden McColley and Connor McColley.

Wabasso hosts Cedar Mountain on Monday, while BLHS is at Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Tuesday.

Springfield 76, Cedar Mountain 63

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield took down Cedar Mountain 76-63 on Friday night in Tomahawk Conference boys’ basketball action.

Mason Leonard led the Tigers with 24 points, while Brendon Buerkle added 18 points, Dylan Batzlaff added 17 points and James Coffland had 15 points.

Cedar Mountain was led By Chris Dow’s 19 points, while Dakota Pendleton added 14 points and Devonte Charles had 13 points.

Springfield hosts New Ulm Cathedral on Tuesday night, while the Cougars are at Wabasso on Monday.

St. Mary’s 85, Sleepy Eye 64

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s downed Sleepy Eye 85-64 on Friday night in a Tomahawk Conference boys’ basketball game.

The Knights were led by Carson Domeier’s 34 points, while Caleb Wait had 25 points.

Kegan Heiderscheidt led the way for the Indians with 29 points and 12 rebounds, while Marcus Martinez added 11 points and Erizen Traconis added 10 points.

St. Mary’s is at Truman on Saturday, Feb. 6, while the Indians host Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Tuesday.

NUA 36, St. Peter 31

PIPESTONE — The New Ulm Area wrestling team picked up a pair of wins on Friday night at a Pipestone Triangular, defeating Pipestone Area 42-27 and St. Peter 36-31.

Parker Kamm, Logan Lee, Cole Ranweiler, Caleb Arndt, Dylen Carreon and Jaden Drill all went 2-0 for NUA on the night.
