New Ulm 2nd at Big South meet
WORTHINGTON — The New Ulm gymnastics team placed second at the Big South Conference meet on Saturday.
Worthington won the meet, followed by New Ulm, Martin County West/Fairmont, and Jackson County Central. Point totals were not made available.
For New Ulm, Kayla Goblirsch set a personal best with an all-around score of 37.3. She won the vault (9.575), took second on the bars (8.8), first on the beam (9.55) and first on floor (9.375).
Girls’ basketball
Nicollet/Loyola 76,
Cleveland 64
GRANADA — Nicollet/Mankato Loyola defeated Cleveland in a Valley Conference showcase girls’ basketball game on Saturday.
Hayley Selby had 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead Nicollet. Zoey Weller had 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Josi Hansen had 14 points and four assists. Marah Hulke scored 9 points, had seven assists and five rebounds and Kendall Robertson had 11 points. Megan Frutiger finished with 10 points.
Nicollet (6-14) is at New Ulm Cathedral on Monday.
Boys’ basketball
Lyle-Pacelli 81,
Madelia 62
MANKATO — Lyle-Pacelli defeated Madelia in a nonconference boys’ basketball game on Saturday night.
Ja’Sean Glover led Madelia with 25 points, four rebounds and four assists. Kadin Benzel had 11 points and three assists for the Blackhawks.
Madelia (7-12) is at Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial Monday for a Valley Conference showcase game.
