St. Mary’s 68, Sleepy Eye 42
SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s defeated Sleepy Eye on Monday in a Tomahawk Conference girls’ basketball game.
Madison Mathiowetz led the Knights with 36 points, nine rebounds and two steals. Sydney Windschitl added 15 points, four steals, eight rebounds and three assists. Reagan Severson had 11 points, three steals and two assists.
Brittney Dittbenner and Crystal Hecht each scored 9 points for the Indians.
St. Mary’s (16-2, 10-2) will play at Minnesota Valley Lutheran (15-2, 10-0) on Friday. Sleepy Eye (12-6, 5-6) will host MVL (15-2, 10-0) on Thursday.
Springfield 64, BOLD 61
SPRINGFIELD — Springfield edged BOLD on Monday in nonconference girls’ basketball action.
Sydney Hauger led the Tigers with 37 points while Megan Ploeger and Brooklyn Sturm each scored 9 points.
Springfield (14-3, 8-2) will travel to play Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop (4-12, 4-7) on Tuesday in Winthrop.
Boys’ basketball
Wabasso 74, Canby 65
WABASSO — Wabasso defeated Canby on Monday in a nonconference boys’ basketball game.
Will Carson led the Rabbits with 19 points, Isaac Kronback added 17 points, Cole Frericks scored 14 points and Colby Wall had 13 points.
Wabasso (8-10, 4-7) will play at Central Minnesota Christian on Tuesday.
New Ulm 80,
Sibley East 51
ARLINGTON — New Ulm defeated Sibley East on Monday in a nonconference boys’ basketball game.
Reece Melby led the Eagles with 28 points and Hunter Sehr scored 17 points. Cole Rhode had 15 rebounds. Charlie Osborne added a good number of assists, according to Eagle head coach Matt Dennis (the Eagles didn’t have an assist total at press time).
New Ulm (4-11,1-5) will travel to Blue Earth Area on Thursday.
Boys’ hockey
New Ulm 9, Windom 2
WINDOM — New Ulm defeated Windom in a Big South Conference boys’ hockey game on Tuesday.
Teagan Kamm and Braxten Hoffmann each scored two goals for New Ulm and Teddy Giefer, Sam Keickeisen, Josh Gulden, Keagan Schiro and Glavine Schugel each scored a goal.
Joey Gag had 19 saves for New Ulm.
