MVL girls continue to roll, Sibley East boys down GFW

MVL 72, GHEC/T 55

TRUMAN — Minnesota Valley Lutheran defeated Granada-Huntley-East-Chain/Truman on Monday in a nonconference girls’ basketball game.

Abbie Riederer led the Chargers with 29 points and eight rebounds. Emma Nelson scored 19 points, had 13 rebounds, six steals and two blocked shots. Also for MVL, Kaylee Hunter scored 9 points and had six assists, while Maddie Pearson added seven rebounds with four assists.

MVL (10-2, 6-0) will travel to Cedar Mountain (1-10, 0-6) on Tuesday.

AC/GE 76, Nicollet 66

ALDEN — Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons downed Nicollet 76-66 on Monday in a nonconference girls’ basketball game.

Marah Hulke led the Raiders with 24 points, Haley Selby had 20 points with 13 rebounds and Zoey Weller added 14 points. Jill Thompson had nine rebounds.

Abbie Theusch led AC/GE with 41 points and Kaylee Wachlin added 10 points.

Nicollet (2-10) will travel to St. Clair on Thursday.

Sleepy Eye 67,

Wabasso 56

WABASSO — Sleepy Eye topped Wabasso 67-56 on Monday in Tomahawk Conference girls’ basketball action.

The Indians (11-3, 5-3) were led by Kadence Hesse with 22 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals. Brea Mertz had 15 points, six rebounds and two steals, Kaydince Thoms had 11 points, 10 rebounds and two steals, Brittney Dittbenner had 9 points, eight steals, five rebounds and two assists.

Wabasso was led by Allison Fenger with 18 points.

Boys’ basketball

Sibley East 75, GFW 65

ARLINGTON — Sibley East had four players in double figures as the Wolverines downed Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Monday in nonconference boys’ basketball action.

Caleb Dose and Lucas Tesch each scored 20 points for Sibley East. Lucas Dose had 16 points and JaBez Bates scored 12 points.

Johnnie Ambrose led GFW with 21 points, Damian Hopp added 17 points and Ryan Lavrenz added 13 points.

GFW (2-9, 1-6) will host Sleepy Eye (1-10, 0-5) on Friday.

RCW 71, Sleepy Eye 39

SLEEPY EYE — Renville County West defeated Sleepy Eye on Monday in a nonconference boys’ basketball game.

Kegan Heiderscheidt scored 11 points for the Indians.

Sleepy Eye (1-10, 0-5) will host Wabasso (4-8, 1-6) on Tuesday.
