Waseca handles New Ulm, Knights storm past Cougars

Waseca 61, New Ulm 16

WASECA — Waseca downed New Ulm 61-16 on Wednesday in a South Central District, Red Subdistrict football game.

For New Ulm, Cole Ranweiler had 16 carries for 116 yards, Nolan Drill had 12 carries for 14 yards and one touchdown and Jaden Miller had six carries for 57 yards and one touchdown.

Hunter Hulke had nine tackles and Teagan Kamm had eight tackles for New Ulm.

St. Mary’s 60,

Cedar Mountain 14

MORGAN — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s ran away with a 60-14 win over Cedar Mountain in 9-man South District, West Subdistrict football action on Wednesday night.

Leading the Knights in the win was Nick Labat, who threw for 122 yards and a pair of touchdowns while also rushing for 98 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 11 carries. Also for St. Mary’s, Carson Domeier had a touchdown passing and 60 yards through the air on three completions, while Patrick Hoffmann rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries and Trent Steffensmeier rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown on five carries.

The Knights also got a rushing touchdown from Joey Herzog, while Spencer Hoffman caught two passes for 72 yards and a touchdown, Zach Rutscher had a touchdown reception and Kyle Fischer had a touchdown reception.

Braden Hansen had a pick six for St. Mary’s, while Marcus Lang and Labat also each had an interception.

For Cedar Mountain, Cade Schiller was 15 for 35 for 156 yards passing and a touchdown, while Vincent Ochs rushed for a touchdown. Ochs also had six catches for 39 yards, while Caden Kleinschmidt caught four passes for 48 yards and Nick Freitag had two catches for 44 yards and a touchdown.

Austin Schumacher led the Cougars on defense with 13 total tackles.

Nicollet 54, Mabel-Canton 14

NICOLLET — Nicollet defeated Mabel-Canton 54-14 on Wednesday in a South District football game.

Nicollet’s Jon Mans scored seven total touchdowns (four passing, three rushing). He had 253 yards passing and 117 yards rushing. Riley Hulke had six catches for 81 yards and a touchdown, Logan Shay had four catches for 56 yards and a touchdown, Riley Mans had four catches for 62 yards and a touchdown and Shane Stevensen had six catches for 54 yards and a touchdown.

Nicollet was led on defense by Tylar Laven, who had 13 total tackles and one fumble recovery and Nathan Duis had eight total tackles and one interception.

Nicollet (7-1) begins playoff action on Tuesday.

Wabasso 32, MCC 27

SLAYTON — Wabasso defeated Murray County Central 32-27 on Wednesday in a Southwest District, East Subdistrict football game.

Wabasso’s Nick Marotzke had 134 yards rushing and one touchdown. Carter Benz threw for 198 yards and three touchdowns, Will Carlson had two catches for 87 yards and two touchdowns and Colby Wall had two catches for 78 yards and one touchdown for Wabasso.

Wabasso was led on defense by Wall, who had 13 total tackles and two interceptions. Also for Wabasso, Lance Wagner had 13 total tackles, Marotzke had 10 total tackles and Cole Frericks had eight total tackles.

TMB 47, Sleepy Eye 16

SLEEPY EYE — Tracy-Milroy-Balaton defeated Sleepy Eye 47-16 on Wednesday in a Southwest District, East Subdistrict football game.

Sleepy Eye’s Ethan Fischer caught a 78-yard touchdown pass from Kegan Heiderscheidt. Fischer also ran for a 6-yard TD.

Hills-Beaver Creek 46, Madelia 40

MADELIA — Hills-Beaver Creek defeated Madelia 46-40 on Wednesday in a South District, West Subdistrict football game.

Ramiro Zamora had 140 yards rushing and one touchdown, Ethan Arndt had and two touchdowns and Je’Sean Glover had five catches for 85 yards and two touchdowns for Madelia.

Madelia was led on defense by Luke Hennis, who had 14 total tackles and one fumble recovery. Glover also had a fumble recovery.

Madelia (2-6) begins playoff action on Tuesday.
