Adrian blanks Cathedral, GFW coasts to 63-0 win over LSH

ADRIAN — Adrian defeated New Ulm Cathedral 34-0 on Friday in a Southwest District East Subdistrict football game.

Cathedral was led on defense by Chris Knowles, who had 16 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble. Josh Kretsch and Cole Schwartz also each had eight tackles for Cathedral.

Cathedral (1-5) hosts Sleepy Eye at 7 p.m. on Friday.

GFW 63, Le Sueur-Henderson 0

LE SUEUR — Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop defeated Le Sueur-Henderson on Friday in a South Central District Blue Subdistrict football game.

GFW’s Ryan Lavrenz had 110 yards rushing and one touchdown. Also for GFW, Evan Martin had 86 yards rushing and one touchdown and Dominic Henrichs had 40 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

GFW was led on defense by Nick TenEyck, who had seven total tackles. Abel Puentes had 5 1/2 tackles, JC Munoz had five tackles and one sack and Jorge Medrano had five tackles for GFW.

GFW plays at 7 p.m. on Friday at Maple River.

Nicollet 22, Madelia 6

MADELIA — Nicollet defeated Madelia 22-6 on Friday in a 9-Man South District, West Subdistrict football game.

Nicollet’s Avery Northquest had 28 carries for 143 yards rushing and one touchdown. Jon Mans had 10 carries for 58 yards rushing and one touchdown. Riley Hulke caught a 32-yard pass from Nathan Duis to score a touchdown.

Northquest also led Nicollet on defense with 10 total tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Madelia’s touchdown was scored off a 3-yard pass from Ethan Arndt to Ramiro Zamora.

On defense, Madelia was led by Jed Altenburg, who had one fumble recovery and 15 total tackles. Ja’Sean Glover also had one interception for Madelia.

Madelia (2-4) plays at 7 p.m. on Friday at Houston.

Mtn. Lake Area 62, CM/C 6

MORGAN — Mountain Lake defeated Cedar Mountain/Comfrey 62-56 on Friday in a 9-Man South District, West Subdistrict football game.

Cade Schiller scored CM/C’s single touchdown and had 80 yards passing. Vincent Ochs had 53 yards rushing and Nick Freitag had 47 yards receiving for CM/C.

Schiller and Matt Zueg led CM/C on defense with seven total tackles each. Austin Schumacher and Nick Schacher each had five total tackles for CM/C.

CM/C plays at 7 p.m. on Friday at Edgerton.

Springfield 34,

Wabasso 0

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield remained unbeaten, crushing Wabasso (4-2) in a Southwest District football game on Friday.

Decker Scheffler had a big night, throwing for 187 yards and a touchdown and rushing for 139 yards and a touchdown. Kadin Johnson had 69 yards rushing and a touchdown and Mason Rummel had 46 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Jordan Toll had three receptions for 79 yards and a touchdown and Nolan Hovland had four receptions for 43 yards.

Defensively, Ivan Hovland had 10 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Rummel had 10 tackles and Nolan Hovland, Johnson and Curtis Tauer each had nine tackles. Shane Clemon and Mason Leonard each had a quarterback sack and Tyler Vanderwerf had an interception. Jason Berberich also had a fumble recovery.

Springfield (6-0) is at Adrian on Thursday and Wabasso hosts Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Friday.
