Eagles sweep Blue Earth Area

New Ulm 3, BEA 0

BLUE EARTH — New Ulm swept Blue Earth Area 25-13, 5-21, 25-11 on Tuesday in a Big South Conference volleyball match.

New Ulm was led by Talya Hoel, who had 16 set assists and five kills. Also for New Ulm, Natalie Yackley had 17 set assists, Nora Windschill had 10 kills, Nicole Albrecht had one ace and six digs and Riley Melby had five kills and two blocks.

New Ulm (1-1) hosts Fairmont at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

USC 3, Madelia 0

WELLS — United South Central swept Madelia 25-20, 25-10, 25-16 on Tuesday in a nonconference volleyball match.

Lillian Maul led Madelia with three kills and nine digs. Also for Madelia, Brooke Lensing had three kills and one block and Dora Facundo had three kills and six digs.

Madelia (0-4) plays at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Sleepy Eye Invitational.

NYA 3, GFW 0

WINTHROP — Norwood Young America swept Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 25-20, 25-22, 25-16 on Tuesday in a nonconference volleyball match.

For GFW, Hannah Thorsen had 13 set assists, Kaitlyn Lee had 18 digs, Hannah Panitzke had five kills and Julia Schweiss had four kills and two blocks.

GFW (2-1) plays at 7 p.m. on Thursday at New Ulm Cathedral.

W/WG 3, Springfield 1

WALNUT GROVE –Westbrook/Walnut Grove defeated Springfield 25-12, 25-22, 19-25, 25-23 on Tuesday in a nonconference volleyball match.

Springfield was led by Courtney Wendt with three aces, six kills, three blocks and 17 digs. Also for Springfield, Eva Mark had 26 set assists, four blocks and 10 digs, Kora Wahl had eight kills, five blocks and six digs and Cylee Graff had two aces, eight kills and three blocks.

Springfield (0-2) hosts Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Boys’ soccer

New Ulm 2, Marshall 1

MARSHALL — The New Ulm boys’ soccer team picked up a Big South Conference victory over Marshall on Tuesday.

New Ulm got goals from Jack Howard and Ethan O’Connor.

New Ulm is at Worthington on Thursday.
